It's interesting here in Oz - the devastation from Katrina to NO tends to be about ten minutes into the TV news, after all of our convoluted power struggles in federal politics. I guess we're just not getting enough new footage daily to make it interesting or current or newsworthy enough. My perception of the disaster so far, from the coverage I've seen at least, is that the rescue operations are a complete balls-up and your Chief is looking like a stunned mullet, is uncharacteristically quiet on how to deal with it and is rather hoping someone else might slip in and look after the clean-up and re-build for him so he can go back on holidays ASAP. Hmmm. Every thing is strangly silent. It is well reported over here, i suspect that we may know more than you. But nobody wants to help. According to many this is going to be the first major city in the world to be lost to global warming. Time for Mr Bush to wake up and go green. I myself really feel for those people suffering. I think the difference betweeen this and other natural disasters is that Americans generally have a lot further to fall.

That's one angle-- global warming-- that hasn't been reported here that I know of. The good news is that the disaster has many Americans slapping their foreheads and saying, "I voted for this ass?!"
